The International Forum on HIV & Rehabilitation Research: Translating Research Evidence from the Canada-UK HIV and Rehabilitation Research Collaborative (CUHRRC) and Canadian Working Group on HIV and Rehabilitation Research Collaborative (CWGHR).
Dr. Francisco Ibanez-Carrasco (UWW Program Manager) and Dr. Kelly O’Brien (Rehabilitation, U of Toronto) received a CIHR grant to hold this meeting.
This Forum is a collaboration between the Canadian Working Group on HIV and Rehabilitation (CWGHR) and Canada-UK HIV and Rehabilitation Research Collaborative (CUHRRC) aimed to discuss research evidence knowledge on HIV, disability and rehabilitation among people living with HIV, researchers, clinicians, representatives of community organizations, and policy makers in Canada, UK and Ireland.
Rehabilitation in the context of HIV is an interdisciplinary and intersectoral area of inquiry and practice that effectively bridges academic disciplines, clinical practice and community efforts. The Forum had an exciting range of speakers from Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland and the United States, who shared their research across six priority areas in HIV and rehabilitation including HIV, aging and concurrent health conditions, HIV and neurocognitive rehabilitation, access to and effect of rehabilitation, and labour force participation. The discussion was rich and a catalyst for new partnerships.
The International Forum on HIV and Rehabilitation Research is supported by a Dissemination Grant from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), the Public Health Agency of Canada, The Ontario HIV Treatment Network and the University of Toronto
